## What Lawvora is (and isn't)

Lawvora is a commercial product for legal professionals. It is review-assistance software that accelerates contract analysis; it does **not** provide legal advice and is not a substitute for a qualified attorney. It offers a free evaluation tier plus paid subscription tiers.

## How it works

The document pipeline is: Upload → Text Extraction → Token Estimation → AI Analysis → Storage → Results.

1. Document ingestion — accepts PDF, DOCX, DOC, and RTF via a drag-and-drop uploader. Files are stored in AWS S3 under user-scoped paths.
2. Text extraction — a multi-library pipeline (pdf-parse for PDFs, mammoth for Word, Aspose Words Cloud for complex formats, and Claude native-PDF transcription through the authenticated Cloudflare AI Gateway when OCR is needed).
3. AI analysis — Anthropic Claude processes the extracted text through specialized prompts to produce risk ratings, basic summaries (Claude Haiku 4.5), advanced summaries (Claude Sonnet 5), and document comparisons.
4. Credit system — token usage is estimated before processing, with atomic credit deduction and transaction logging for an audit trail.
5. Queue system — background job processing for bulk analysis, async summary generation, and rate-limited API calls.

## Security & compliance

- Row-Level Security (RLS): per-user row-level policies enforce `user_id` ownership across documents, summaries, risk ratings, and related tables — so even an application bug cannot expose another user's data.
- Transport security: HSTS (1-year max-age, includeSubDomains) and TLS.
- XSS prevention: a Content Security Policy with per-request nonces.
- Other headers: X-Frame-Options: DENY, X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, strict-origin-when-cross-origin referrer policy, and a restrictive Permissions-Policy (camera/microphone/geolocation disabled).
- Authentication via BetterAuth with server-side session validation; CSRF token validation on mutations.
- Customer documents are not used to train AI models. Lawvora applies standard SaaS security controls (encryption at rest and in transit, per-row authorization) and GDPR/CCPA-aligned data handling. No formal SOC 2 certification has been completed.
